Big things first: Partnership fills the jar

What excited me most when I started working at Wisenet over 15 years ago was the technology; more specifically, the ability to transform ideas into tangible possibilities.

I’ve been on the front lines of Wisenet’s evolution from a compliance software to a comprehensive, integrated, cloud-native SaaS student management system that reaches every part of the learner lifecycle.

It’s fair to say, in that time, I’ve witnessed what is now a historical precedent of constant innovation within the business. We’ve been here since education software existed, and we’re still here today because we continue to iterate.

What I’ve come to appreciate more is that technology alone rarely creates lasting success. Instead, it is the conduit. The value for education providers comes from understanding where you wish to go in the future, the challenges standing in your way, and how we can work together to help you get there.

That is what partnership means to me.

Building a strong partnership is a journey

We have many long standing relationships with our customers, with some of these relationships originating from when the business was founded.

All great relationships start by getting the foundations right. A great deal of how we deliver on this at Wisenet is through a culture of learning and improvement. We listen, we adapt, and we try to be better than yesterday.

Our partnerships with our customers begin the moment you engage with us. Whether through a LinkedIn post, a sales call, or you see us at a conference, it starts even before you make the decision to go with Wisenet as your Student Management System.

Partnership also means successful onboarding and implementation, so your Wisenet instance is set up the way you want it from the start of your engagement.

From there, we work alongside you as your business evolves. We take the time to understand your goals, navigate new challenges, and identify how we can help by utilising a range of tools and methodologies that we have developed on your journey to success.

Consistency, trust, and response to things when they don’t go to plan are part of the journey.

In software, there will always be change. We make product improvements, introduce new technology, and respond to changing industry and compliance requirements. Sometimes those changes create challenges we didn’t anticipate. But we would rather keep moving, learning, and improving than stand still.

It isn’t about pretending everything will always be perfect. It is about being there for you, as we move together in the same direction to deliver education that matters.

Rocks and pebbles

Every education provider has immediate needs. Those things matter, and we’re there for you when you need us. But some of the most valuable conversations we have are not about the issue that needs fixing today, but about what you seek to achieve over the next few years.

I like to think about it in terms of an analogy of rocks, pebbles, and sand.

You put the rocks into the jar first. They represent the strategic outcomes you wish to achieve. This could be how you develop connected learner journeys, build data driven insights, or drive efficient operations at scale.

The pebbles come next. They represent the initiatives, capabilities and changes you need to put in place to achieve those strategic outcomes. This might include improving specific processes, strengthening compliance, connecting systems, or building new ways of working.

The sand is placed in last, filling the remaining space. For education providers, it represents the day-to-day activities that keep everything moving, such as enrolling learners, timetabling classes and completing administrative tasks. These activities are essential, but if we let them, they can quickly consume our available time and leave little room to focus on the bigger outcomes we are trying to achieve. Here's a video that demonstrates the concept, albeit with a slightly different type of rock.

For us, partnership is not just about building software to make the day-to-day easier. It is about helping you create space for what matters most and turning your bigger ambitions into achievable outcomes.

Partnerships going forward

For me, the future of partnership at Wisenet is about getting even closer to the outcomes you desire to achieve.

We have created a tool called the Strategic Profile that aims to do just that, and you can access this tool by contacting your Account Manager.

Technology will continue to change rapidly, and with that so will the expectations placed on education providers. Our responsibility is not simply to keep pace with that change. It is to understand what it means for you so that technology supports your business in a sustainable and successful way.
